ABOUT THE RICE OWLS DANCE TEAM

The Rice Owls Dance Team was founded in 1992 by Jill Ferguson and Rose Ann Martinez. Over the past 32 years, the team evolved from the “Owlettes” to become the official Rice Owls Dance Team. From its conception, the team has choreographed and performed at basketball games, eventually expanding to performing at football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball games, and other Rice University events.

Currently, the team boasts 17 dancers who represent Rice on and off the fields and court. Performing pom, jazz, and hip-hop styles, the team boasts the ability to energize the crowd and support Rice’s athletic teams throughout their seasons. At the end of the spring semester, the team performs their dances from the athletic seasons as well as a variety of other styles and choreography.

The Rice Owls Dance Team offers a chance to meet and form friendships with new people across grades, majors, and residential colleges, building a team bond that lasts a lifetime.
